Marc was a four year Varsity setter in High School first at San Marcos HS and then at Poway HS. He received All League honors throughout his career and learned a great deal about the game by playing at Moonlight Beach while growing up. Marc graduated from Cal State San Marcos with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science before going on to receive a Master’s Degree in Education from San Diego State University. In 2004, he earned the opportunity to represent the U21 US National Team in the World University Games in Thailand. This experience broadened his hunger to compete and travel. After Graduate school, while working as a case manager for transition aged youth, Marc moved to the US Virgin Islands in St.Thomas where he taught volleyball and Caribbean History at a private school. While living in St.Thomas, he was chosen as the setter for the US Virgin Islands Indoor National Team and competed Internationally with countries from North and Central America and the Caribbean. Since this time, Marc has played and competed on the International Beach Volleyball Tour and competed in over 16 different Countries and has developed an understanding of the game and how it’s played all over the world. Marc is still competing and hopes to qualify for the next Pan American Games.
Marc is married and has 10 year old twin boys. His wife Rosie, was one of the top national field hockey athletes from San Diego and enjoyed a stellar collegiate field hockey career. Marc is the director and founder of San Diego Beach Volleyball and Genuine Volleyball Club. He has worked full time as a beach and Indoor Volleyball Coach since 2010. He has coached several beach volleyball National teams in training camps and continues to do so.

BRANDON GONZALES
Gonzo as we call him in the the gym, started his volleyball career playing in High School. His first sport was actually hockey. He fell in love with the game and kept playing in different settings and open gyms through college.Gonzo has a strong passion for being on the court with the athletes and helping them with whatever challenges come up. He has been promoted to our Boys Director and brings great communication and organizational skills developed from his diverse work experience.
Gonzo is an alumni of Long Beach Stateand has been been coaching for 10+ years. At Long Beach he received a Bachelors in Healthcare Management.
He is one of the main onsite admins at the club when not coaching.

AARON SIMMONS
Aaron fell in love with the gave in high school. As a football player he had opportunities to continue after high school but decided to stick with volleyball. Graduating from Mission Hillls Aaron headed to play at Palomar College. While in College Aaron started coaching at local clubs and mad his hoe at Genuine and SD Beach. Aaron coaches at Victory Christian Academy in Chula Vista for their boys and girls varsity team. He coached at the collegiate level for the University of Saint Katherines. Aaron is a diehard Ohio State Buckeyes and a Cincinnati Bengals fan. These days he is a Kindergarten Teacher at Victory Christian. his advice to young players is "Always stay positive and have a knack for going with the flow. Life is short so have a good time, relax, and always have a good time."
FRED MARTINEZ
Fred is from Los Angeles where he began to play volleyball in High School. He has always been a huge sports fan and played all the sports he could growing up. He ended up playing at Palomar College and soon after he began coaching. Fred has become one of the clubs top coaches through the years and gives so much motivation and support to his athletes. Fred has recently been coaching the 18-1 team and 15 Premier who recently won the Salt Lake qualifier. Fred has a strong passion for the game and in pushing the young athletes to reach their best.
RYLEE ZIMMERMAN
Rylee played at Genuine/SD Beach in the first year we opened and has been at the club ever since. Rylee started playing ay at Palomar College and transferred to University of Saint Katherine. Durring her college years she continued coaching and has developed into one of North Countys finest technical coaches. Rylee has been currently coaching at Carlsbad High School as the womens Varsity Coach. Rylees words of wisdom for the athlete is "Strength grows in the moments when you think you can’t go on but you keep going anyway. - Ed Mylett"
SYDNEY THOMPSON
Syd grew up in Texas and moved to Washington as a high school senior where she won a state championship. Sydney played collegiately at Dominican University of California before moving to Köln Germany where she played on the university's club beach volleyball team. She has been coaching since 2017, everything from youth clinics to USAV High Performance in the Puget Sound Region, club volleyball, and JV at Mission Vista High School. Sydney loves traveling ( She has been to 26 different countries), cooking, and taking her dog on hikes! In the gym Syd take on the social media and operations for programs. She will be a main contact for you all throughout the year. Sydney is also part of our Recruiting and College placement team along with Rylee and Marc.
AUBREY U
Aubrey played at SD Beach and Genuine Volleyball as a junior athlete and began coaching while attending Cal State San Marcos as a volleyball member. Currently she is playing on the Beach Volleyball team at Mira Costa College. Most recently she has been coaching Freshman and then JV at Carlsbad High School. When she is not coaching, Aubrey loves to learn new things. Languages, writing, and reading are just some of her interests, as well as singing and making music. Working out and staying active so that she can keep up with the players on the court is a passion for Aubrey. Her advice to young players “Make your teammates better. They are only as good as you just as you are only as good as them. You all are a team and a reflection off one another, so play your hardest and play together. Mamba mentality!”
